Diana Fine

Diana is a Reiki Master in the Usui tradition and a mindful meditation guide certified in Mudra Meditation. She is a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals. More from Diana on her Reiki practice:

After being initiated into the practice nearly nine years ago, I practiced Reiki exclusively as a volunteer for five years while maintaining a daily Reiki self care practice to deepen my understanding of, connection to and experience of Reiki. This daily practice continues to this day.

If you are well, Reiki practice is a safe and effective way to support your mind/body in maintaining health. If you are unwell, Reiki practice is a safe and effective way to support the health of your immune and other systems by addressing all manner of stress and helping you to shift into parasympathetic nervous system mode. All systems in the body work optimally when we are not sympathetic nervous system dominant (fight-or-flight mode).

Some of the health challenges I have worked with include cancer (all stages), chronic pain, headaches, anxiety, hyper vigilance states, depression and PTSD. I’ve also worked with people challenged by insomnia, infertility and have given Reiki before and after surgery to help with preparation and healing afterwards.

Access is very important to me. I offer an uncomplicated sliding scale and while practicing at Yaad, I will continue to volunteer and offer some free and low cost group classes where my schedule allows.

More from Diana on her mindful meditation practice:

For a long time Western culture has denied what indigenous cultures have always known about our place in the natural world. It is the knowing that our relationship with the natural world, its laws of reciprocity, its rhythms and our relationship to forces both seen and unseen, whether they're rooted in the laws of physics or aspects of spiritual life, determine the strength, quality and robustness of our wellbeing.

Seven years ago, I became a certified Mudra Meditation Teacher. Although meditative breath work practiced with Mudras is an ancient Hindu tradition, I soon learned that Mudras themselves have deep roots in all civilizations—many African, Persian, Mayan, Greek, Aborigine, East/Southeast Asian, Roman, Inuit, and countless other civilizations have used hand gestures in their sacred practices, communication and in exquisite art forms.

As a meditation breath work guide, my appreciation and reverence for breath and the culturally informed Asian and African spiritual practices that work with breath, evolved from my exploration and desire to address trauma. It is through mindful Mudra meditation that I came to understand that there is no deep healing without holistic, safe practices that aid in processing and releasing what is calling for healing.

Mindful Mudra Meditation helps us to redraw the way we exist in the world—from unconscious and beholden to fears to an existence characterized by resilience, access to balanced states of mind and joy, multifaceted creativity, clarity & insight.
